The Hackettstown Police K-9 Unit was founded in September of 2016. Ptl. Laver, and his K-9 partner “Edo”, specialize in the detection of narcotics and public demonstrations for community policing purposes.

D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.

The Hackettstown Police Detective Bureau coordinates the Child I.D. Program. This program is designed to provide children with identification cards in the event they become lost or separated from their parents or guardians.

The Hackettstown Police Department sponsors an annual "Community Day" event which hosts an array of emergency agencies, military, corporate, non-profit, health, and many other organizations who come together to educate the community about their functions and services they provide. Games, music, and other forms of entertainment are some of the featured attractions at this event.

The Hackettstown Police Department participates in the National Night Out event, which is held on the first Tuesday in August. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

The drop box is located at the Hackettstown Police Department. Residents may visit the Hackettstown Police Department at any time to dispose of their unused or excess medications anonymously.

Liquids, epi-pens and needles WILL NOT be accepted.

The CPS Program is designed to educate parents on the proper installation of child passenger seats and how children should be secured and protected in a motor vehicle while travelling.


To schedule an appointment to have your child seat installed or inspected, please contact our office at 908-852-3302.

This program designates police officers who are responsible for visiting Hackettstown Schools on a daily basis. Their presence provides security and a direct point of contact with the police department to all students, faculty, and school staff.


Sgt. Tynan is the designated S.R.O. for H.P.D.
